I don't own a silencer but that feature would be useful to those who do want to use one.įit and finish of the rifle is excellent. The gas block has a three position adjustment ring to adjust the gas for use with a silencer. The barrel is hammer forged and chrome lined with a 1:7 twist rate. One of the main reasons I was looking forward to this rifle-in addition to the caliber-was that Zastava was using a 1.5 mm receiver and bulged trunion.
I was excited to see a quality AK in 5.56 available since rifles in this caliber are less common than others.
Importation of the Zastava M90 was announced last year. I've owned a few AKs over the years but I'm far from being an expert. Since we had differing opinions, I simply smiled, nodded and walked to the door. Zastava seems to be moving to the upper part of that market, but there's really only Kalashnikov and Arsenal for top-tier AKs." He replied, "The low to mid-range market is very broad. As I looked at the guns one of the men asked what I was shooting, to such I said a new Zastava M90. As I was leaving the range I saw some representatives from Kalashnikov USA set up at a booth with a couple guns displayed. I'll be watching the company's future offerings closely because I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. In fact this is the first Zastava rifle I've owned. So no one may think it, I have no connection with Zastava in any way. However the Circle Ten magazines work and fit so well in the rifle that I'm inclined stick with them. I appreciate your offer to replace the magazine, that is very kind. Those that made it to the chamber wouldn't allow the bolt to close, even with a firm tap on the charging handle. It was an odd malfunction, which due to my overall experience I would attribute to the magazine being the odd lemon. The magazine worked fine for the first dozen rounds, then continually wedged wedged the tip of the rounds between the chamber and dust cover. I appreciate having the original trigger group, the more original parts the better, especially when the trigger is this good.Īs for the magazine, I was suprised as well. From my experience with the rifle I find it hard to imagine a situation where the strongest gas setting is needed, but than again I'm a low speed, high drag kind of operator. I think the adjustable gas block is a neat feature. Thank you for an unexpected, but welcome response.
